Dia Mirza on Avyaan and Samaira’s upbringing

During the candid chat, we asked Dia about her upbringing and how she was raised. To this she shares, “Meri pitai toh nahi hui par happad lage hai ek do baar, actually use jyada. (I have not been beaten much but I have got slapped by my mother). The last time I got slapped was when I was 21. My mother has never held back. But I have chosen I will never raise my hand on my children. Because I think it’s a way of upbringing or parenting, I don’t agree with and I think if I talk to my kids, things will get sorted. My child is naughty, but he is understanding as well. If I talk to them, they understand. Even Samaira is very intelligent. You give her rational logic behind something she won’t do.”

Dia on mother’s guilt and separation anxiety

Further, the actress also opens up about going through mom’s guilt despite being sure to be there for kids. Sharing her experience, Dia says, “I discovered mom’s guilt is real when Avyaan was just 1 and I had to go for Dhak Dhak shoot. I was away from him for 1.5 months and it was a tough time for me. But today technology is advanced so I used to video call. And I am very grateful for having a strong support system. Vaibhav is a very present and active father. Even my mom is around kids when I am working. So, I never have to worry about their safety. But I think it’s natural that I choose only that kind of work in which I don’t feel guilty about the separation anxiety.
